Hi,

We use TW version 4.6 (build 18001).

I have a task that lasts 10 days which I have been assigned to. The assignment has "load from issues" checked. I created 5 issues under this task each with an "estimated duration" of 1h. The estimated duration of the task is obtained as the sum of the estimated duration of all the issues, ie 5h. The operator load associated with this task is calculated by spreading the estimated duration over the task period (10 days).

I now start working on the issues: I log time on them and close them when they are completed. Since the estimated duration remains the same whether issues are completed or not, the load also remains the same.

I would like to be able to change the load so that it reflects what work needs to be done based on the current situation instead of the original estimated situation. For example, assume I completed three issues out of the 5 in just one hour, I would like the load reflect the fact that as of today, I have 2 hours of work left for this task and not 5.

I understand this might not be the intended behavior for everyone but can you suggest a way of reflecting these changes? Would it be to manually adjust the estimated duration of the completed issues based on the work log?

Would the same behavior occur if the issues were replaced by sub-tasks?

Thank you for your help.

I've made a test:

  • a task lasting 10 days

  • with 5 issues lasting one hour

  • this is the load

alt text - then I added some worklog for these issues and the load changes:

Is your Teamwork exposed so that I can login to your account and test the behaviour? You can write me the adress and the login data at schelazzi (at) open-lab (dot) com

I wish I could give you access to my session so you could test but the server is not exposed outside our network.

The main difference between my case and yours is that I am overloaded for part of the task duration (in the plan for the task, all days are red and for these I have a 0 min load, the following days are then white and i get the 59 min load which does not move if i enter worklog on one of the red days prior or equal to today)... not sure if that's what causing the problem.

How Operator load is calculated is described in the user guide here:

http://www.twproject.com/documentation.page

see chapter 6.5

In the guide you find the example with sub-tasks but it works exactly the same with issues.

The work done is subtracted from the total work to be done but if the estimated worklog for an issue was 1 hour and you do it in 30 minutes and you close it, in the operator load it is still counted even removing the 30 minutes. Closed issues are not removed form the total count.

I understand the worklog done is removed from the estimated worklog to calculate the operator load in the future.

However, in my exemple, the load associated with the task is not changed when i enter worklog on one of its issues.

this task runs from 08/02/2011 to 25/03/2011, has an estimated worklog of 2j.3:50, the load is 0 up until 25/02 (because i am already overloaded up till this day) and then 0:59 all the way to 25/03. now if i enter a worklog of 8 hours for the 10/02, the worklog done increases by 8 hours and the remaining hours to be done should decrease by 8 and i should see a change in the load which should decrease from 0:59 to about 0:30. This does not work.

Do you have an explanation?
